SHIPPING & PACKING
UNFRAMED PRINTS
Your print will be carefully rolled in acid free tissue paper and posted in a sturdy cardboard tube. When it arrives, I recommend you lay the print out flat, place the tissue paper it was rolled in over it and weight it down with a couple of large books for a day or two before framing it.
FRAMED PRINTS
Your framed print is carefully packed; with cardboard corner protectors and a cling film wrap around the outer edges. A piece of cardboard is laid over the glass side, then the entire thing is wrapped in bubble wrap and packed into a study cardboard outer sleeve with protective bindings and ‘fragile’ labelling.
All prices include tracked delivery
HOW DID THIS PIECE COME ABOUT?
Check out this little video that gives you a little overview of how this piece evolved.
Not your average Christmas Dinky, I grant you, but the obvious choice of the Dinky 485 Ford Model didn't feel quite right to me. So, I kept on looking and found this jazzy number.
His name is Stripey, The Magic Mini (model no.107).
Pretty rare, as he was only produced by Dinky between 1967-69.
The colours, quirkiness and sense of fun, hit the nail on the head for me, this was definitely what I had been looking for.
He also has an eccentric backstory, featuring in a series of rather bazaar comics/ books called Candy & Andy created by Gerry Anderson (of ‘Thunderbirds’ & ‘Captain Scarlett’ fame). Candy & Andy were children (made of plastic) who lived with two panda bears called Mr & Mrs. Bearanda. Their main activity was to drive around in this magic mini, helping people with various things - so all in keeping with a sense of Christmas spirit!
Backstory aside, I’m a big fan of the mini in general, there is something so personable about its shape and size. So finding this extra colourful version of it, instantly appealed … it is a car that seems to sing celebrations, and what better occasion than Christmas!
WHAT IS A DIGITAL PAINTING?
I have come to digital painting from a traditional fine art background, working for over 20 years in mediums such as oil paint on canvas and pastels.
A couple of years ago I started applying this knowledge and experience to digital painting.
Watch this short video to see my set up and how I create a digital painting, building an image up from scratch, in the same way I would if using oil paint or pastel.
