This collection is dedicated to celebrating people and their stories. My portraits, wherever possible, are rooted in an active dialogue between me and the subject, which I like to describe as ‘an interview in paint’ where I try to convey as much of their inner story as their outer appearance.
As such my portraits often begin with an informal hello where I ask my subject various questions to help them identify the people, ideas, objects and experiences that have inspired and shaped who they are. From this discussions an extraordinary and unpredictable variety of visual references often emerge which I can then incorporate within the painting, creating something utterly unique to them.
Have you got a loved one you would like me to paint?
