Portrait process

Susannah undertakes commissions either at her studio in wandsworth, London or at a location best suited to the sitter. For sittings done outside of London, travel expenses will apply.

Once the size (i.e. ‘head and shoulders,’ ‘half length,’ ‘full length’), number of sitters and setting have been established a convenient schedule of sittings (2 to 3 hours for each) will be set up. I can work from photographs, but where possible prefer the dialogue that working from life creates. The number of
sittings depends on the scale and scope of the portrait, starting at 3 to 4 sittings for a head and shoulders single portrait. When details have been agreed and following an initial sitting to establish the pose and composition, a down payment of one third the price is requested; the final instalment is paid on completion.
